From Fall Classic Highlights to Fun in the Wild Records, Our Sharks Are Heating Up

Our second weekend of competition in the ‘26-27 Short Course season featured NTA swimmers lighting it up at two separate meets: the SCST Fall Classic, and the NASA Fun in the Wild. 282 NTA athletes competed across the two events, building on our first foray into the competitive season at the Shark Frenzy. We saw some first-time competitors taking a shot at their first ever races, as well as newer swimmers taking their next step deeper into this amazing sport. We saw NTA veterans honing their skills, competing against high-level talent from around the state in some of their strongest events. And we saw countless moments of brave efforts, committed racing and opportunities for growth. What more could you want?

By the Numbers

At the SCST Fall Classic, Ryder Guloy, Grace Kolb, Luke Muehling, Alec Rechlicz and Isaac Wu dropped in every event that they swam, joining the perfect-weekend club! You guys were cooking! 👨‍🍳

Evan Li, Tenley Picton, Mark Pop and Jamie Tian were right there as well, each dropping in all but one event!

At the NASA Fun in the Wild, the following Sharks dropped time in every single event:

Ethan Albers, Samantha Barry, Emily Brandel, Molly Bushell, Scarlett Cagadas, Nora Caskey, Charlotte Cook, Addison Felter, JP Fredericks, Riley Groden, Clayton Guloy, Luke Hollyoak, Edward Kang, Lucas Kim, Parker Kim, Brandon Le, Anneliese Leskinen, Evan Li, Zoey Ma, Natalie Marginean, Liam Page, Violet Petrovic, Declan Prommer, Quinn Regan, Emily Rozentsveig, Elan Sharon, Brooke SooHoo, Rachel Tafur, Mara Waitzman, Yana Weber, Scarlett Wessel and Olivia Zemon! That’s a lot of Sharks! Way to go!

At the Fun in the Wild meet we also got to see extraordinary efforts in the sprinty-est of sprint events: the 25 free elimination! This event, swam in the style of a knockout, multi-round format, saw Sharks make it back to compete in semifinals and finals throughout the day. Shout-out to the following Sharks on their amazing results!

🤩 Top 16:
Eloise Anderson, Charlotte Ashbach, JP Fredericks, Ethan Hasegawa, Lucas Kim, Anthony Kowalski, Emma Malalis, Layla Roeder and Amelia Silverberg.

💪 Top 8: Parker Kim, Adam Mallett and Scarlett Wessel.

🏆 10&Under Boys Champ: Wes Peterson!

Giant Drops

Fall Classic

  • Jack Regan went berserk and dropped 32.45 seconds in the 100 Fly for a 28.29% drop! That’s our winner-winner-chicken dinner for the biggest drop at the Fall Classic.
  • Luke Elliot dropped 49 seconds in the 200 Breast for a 22.93% drop!
  • Sam Doubleday also threw down in the 200 Breast, dropping 27 seconds from his previous best!

Fun in the Wild

  • Penny Marwick had an enormous 25 freestyle in prelims, dropping 19 seconds(!) for a 57% drop! Pretty crazy to drop more time than your new time took to swim! Wow!
  • Mara Waitzman similarly crushed the 25 free, dropping an unbelievable 26 seconds for a 51% drop.
  • Ethan Albers rounds out our 25 freestyle drops of at least 50%, dropping 16 seconds himself. What a trio!

Looking Ahead

We will once again be competing this upcoming weekend in two different pools. On Saturday October 17th we will be hosting our very own Distance Challenge event, where swimmers will get to compete in some longer, less-offered events.

On Sunday the 18th, 22 of our Senior athletes will be racing Long Course Meters at Stevenson High School in the first “Senior Circuit” meet of the season in order to accrue more Long Course racing experience in the leadup to Olympic Trials in 2028. Practice makes perfect!

Good luck at your upcoming meets Sharks! Work hard in practice, and #GoSharks!
