Sharks Shatter Records and Shred Personal Bests at 2026 North Shore Open!
Riley McNeal punches her ticket to Junior Nationals in a massive weekend for the Sharks.

Our New Trier Aquatics swimmers absolutely lit up the pool last weekend (June 26–28) at the 2026 North Shore Open, hosted by PAC at Stevenson High School. It was a weekend filled with historic, record-breaking performances, national-level qualifiers, and a massive flood of personal bests that showed just how hard these athletes have been working.
TEAM RECORD ALERTS!
History was rewritten in the Stevenson pool last weekend as two of our Sharks delivered record-shattering performances:
- Joe Kennedy (12) broke the New Trier Aquatics 11–12 Boys' 200-meter Backstroke Team Record! Joe clocked a blistering 2:27.06 in the finals (after a superb 2:28.92 in the prelims), shaving huge chunks of time off his previous personal marks.
- Lubo Liu-Tchorbadjiyski (14) went on a absolute tear, breaking two individual team records! Lubo blasted a historic 25.65 in the 50-meter Butterfly and a lightning-fast 59.21 in the 100-meter Backstroke.
Congratulations to Joe and Lubo on cementing your names in the NTA history books!
JUNIOR NATIONALS BOUND!
A massive shoutout goes to Riley McNeal (16), who delivered the swim of her life in the 200-meter Breaststroke! Riley clocked a magnificent lifetime best of 2:37.62 to finish second in the A-Final, officially qualifying her for the Summer Junior National Championships! We are so incredibly proud of you, Riley!
The Best-Time Machines (4+ Personal Bests)
NTA had a fleet of consistent performers in the water last weekend. The following swimmers showed incredible focus by bringing home four or more brand-new personal best times:
Anderson Vuong, Daniel Sheynis, Diego Louise, Ethan Groisman, Ingrid Buza, Joe Kennedy, Kyle Rechlicz, Lauren Helm, Luke Helm, and Sam Doubleday
Exceptional & Elite Swims
These Sharks turned in some of the fastest performances of the entire meet, with every single one representing a brand-new lifetime personal best:
- Jordan Ko (15) – Shaved huge time off his previous best mark in the 400-meter Freestyle, dropping down to a stellar 4:19.37 to take sixth place in the A-Final.
- Sean Zhao (15) – Put on a breaststroke clinic, touching the wall in a blistering new personal best of 2:30.03 in the 200-meter Breaststroke to take fifth in the A-Final.
- Ella Houston (18) – Fired off a swift new lifetime best of 2:24.13 in the prelims of the 200-meter Butterfly, returning to take fifth place in the finals.
What's Next for the Sharks?
We will be taking this upcoming weekend off to celebrate the 4th of July with our families, friends, and communities! Enjoy the holiday, stay safe, and get some well-deserved rest.
The Sharks will be right back in action next weekend (July 10–12) with a thrilling double-header:
- The North Suburban Splash hosted by PAC.
- Summer Sectionals hosted at the FMC Natatorium in Westmont.
Keep up the incredible work, Sharks. Let's keep moving forward!
