Sharks Shatter Records and Secure National Cuts in Westmont!
an electric team performance at the Summer Sectional Championships!


The New Trier Aquatics Sharks brought their absolute best to the FMC Natatorium in Westmont last weekend for the Summer Sectional Championships. Guided by our mission of fostering a safe and supportive environment while creating positive pathways to lifelong excellence in and out of the pool, our athletes truly set the gold standard for community aquatic programming.
From individual standard-breaking performances to massive relay contributions, our swimmers proved once again what it means to be a Shark. Here is how the weekend shook out:
New Summer Junior National Qualifiers
A massive round of applause goes out to our three newest Summer Junior National qualifiers!
These Sharks have officially punched their tickets to the big stage after explosive individual swims over the weekend:
- Sylvia Deliduka: 50 Freestyle
- Jordan Ko: 200 Breaststroke
- Lubo Liu-Tchorbadjiyski: 100 Freestyle
Record Board Rewrite
It was a historic weekend for the team records board, courtesy of an unbelievable individual onslaught in the 13-14 Boys age division. Lubo Liu-Tchorbadjiyski put on a masterclass in sprinting, entirely rewriting the Sharks' records across multiple disciplines.
Lubo Liu-Tchorbadjiyski established new 13-14 team records in the 50 Freestyle (23.91), 100 Freestyle (51.61), 50 Backstroke (26.45), 100 Backstroke (59.43), and 50 Butterfly (25.53).
Top Individual Finalists
The following Sharks earned elite top-9 placements during championship final sessions, bringing home massive individual points for NTA:
- Lubo Liu-Tchorbadjiyski (14): 50 Backstroke (26.45, 3rd), 100 Freestyle (51.61, 6th)
- Stefan Tadic (17): 1500 Freestyle (16:27.27, 6th), 400 Freestyle (4:09.63, 9th)
- Sylvia Deliduka (17): 50 Freestyle (26.51, 5th)
- Jordan Ko (15): 200 Breaststroke (2:22.17, 6th)
- Tamara Kret (17): 200 IM (2:23.72, 8th)
Relay Highlights
Our relay teams showcased the deep talent pool anchoring the Northshore communities, highlighted by two brilliant top-6 finishes:
- Men's 800 LC Meter Freestyle Relay: The team of Lubo Liu-Tchorbadjiyski, Sean Zhao, Nick Drcha, and Stefan Tadic powered their way to a fantastic 6th place finish, clocking in at 7:49.08.
- Women's 800 LC Meter Freestyle Relay: Not to be outdone, Sylvia Deliduka, Margaret Lietzau, Tamara Kret, and Maeve Atwood put together an incredible race to capture 6th place overall with a time of 8:42.03.

These swimmers will be back in action next week at the NCSA Summer Junior Championships at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.
