Hearts and Sharks: NTA Athletes Shine at 2nd Annual 8U Championships
Youngest Sharks show "Love" for the sport with a dominant performance on Valentine's Day at New Trier Northfield

New Trier Aquatics celebrated Valentine’s Day with plenty of heart—and a lot of speed—hosting the second annual 8U Championship Meet at the New Trier High School Northfield campus. The energy in the building was electric as our youngest Sharks took to the water, proving that excellence has no age limit as they continue to get #BetterEveryDay.
Perfect Marks and Personal Bests
Accuracy and improvement are the hallmarks of NTA, and several swimmers met the challenge by recording personal best times in every single event they swam. Join us in celebrating these athletes for their consistency and focus:
Sai Arora, Freddie Cunnick, Collins Dawson, Theo Doolin, Connor Dutz, Elaina Fang, Talia Garofalo, Kiran Ghosh, Grayson Guy, Cooper Hanscel, Charlie Jesionowski, Catherine Kinahan, Russell McCaw, Zoe Murphy, Shannon O'Rourke, Magnolia Pjevcevic, Ansel Rice, Brooke SooHoo, Gabriel Urbanski, Henry Venatta, and Mason Wang.
Leading the Pack
In addition to individual improvements, our Sharks were battling for the top of the leaderboard all day. A special shoutout goes to our top three point earners of the meet, who demonstrated incredible versatility across multiple disciplines:
Henry Logan (71 points), Ava Zhang (65 points), and Molly Bushell (60 points).
Conquering the Tough Stuff
The 8U Championships provide a fantastic platform for swimmers to test their endurance and skill in "big kid" events. Charlotta Dudeck showed great grit, successfully completing her first 100 IM with a strong finish of 1:55.67. Lucy Malalis stepped up to the blocks for the 50 Breast for the first time, clocking in at 1:08.93 , while Azalia Urbanski completed her first 25 Freestyle in 35.82
Exceptional Swims
The meet saw some eye-popping time drops that brought the crowd to their feet. Molly Bushell had an absolutely exceptional performance in the 100 IM, shaving over eight seconds off her previous best for a massive 7.5% improvement. We also saw an incredible sprint from Henry Logan in the 25 Backstroke, where he dropped over 11% off his seed time to touch the wall in a blistering 18.94.
Looking Ahead
The Sharks are just getting started! We will be back in action this coming weekend for the North Shore Conference Championships hosted by WSO at Evanston Township High School.
Let's keep that momentum moving forward. #FinsUp #GoSharks #BetterEveryDay
