November 5, 2025

Great Times Were Had by All!

New Trier Aquatics was in two places at once this weekend, and the results were spectacular! A combined 237 NTA swimmers competed at the Patriot Fall Classic at Stevenson High School (Nov 1-2) and the WSO Quadrathlon at Evanston Township (Nov 2). From our newest 8 & Unders to our senior swimmers, the team raced with incredible energy and skill.

First-Time Event Successes

It takes courage to tackle a new and challenging race, and we're proud of all our swimmers who stepped up. A special congratulations to those who took on tough 200-yard events for the first time at the Patriot Classic, including Avi Bodner (200 Fly), Michael Dukach (200 Breast), and Nathan Marchevsky (200 Fly).

The WSO meet was also a fantastic first-time racing experience for many, including Michael LaRocco and Tai Yu, who both won events in their NTA meet debuts!

Exceptional Performances and NEW TEAM RECORDS!

The entire weekend was headlined by Lubomir Liu-Tchorbadjiyski, who put on a historic performance at the Patriot Classic. Lubo broke FOUR 13-14 Boys NTA team records:

In addition to his records, Lubo also won the 100 Fly and 200 Free, going a perfect 6-for-6 on event wins.

The list of dominant performances didn't stop there. At the Patriot Classic, several swimmers were simply unbeatable:

  • Cecily Clifton (12) was a force in the freestyle and butterfly, winning four events.
  • Charles Sears (17) raced to three event victories (200 Fly, 400 IM, 50 Free).
  • Eric Moldovan (14) not only went 100% best times but also won the 400 IM.

Meanwhile, at the WSO Quadrathlon, our younger swimmers were dominant:

  • Scarlett Wessel (8) was outstanding, winning all four of her 8 & Under events (25 Fly, 25 Back, 25 Breast, and 25 Free).
